The International Society for Radiographers and Radiological Technologists (ISRRT) is a non-profit organisation, recognised as a non governmental organisation (NGO) by the World Health Organisation that has membership in 86 countries.

On September 8th, 2026, the ISRRT held a special webinar to celebrate World Radiotherapy Awareness Day (WRAD) hosted by their Director of Education, Mr. Steve Lacey from Australia.

The webinar started with Mr. Kagina Polikalipo from Tanzania setting the scene for WRAD 2026 by giving an overview of the inaugural WRAD in 2025 and describing how the global movement for equitable access to radiotherapy was built.

This was followed by Professor Michelle Leech from Ireland who spoke to international educational activities for radiation therapists with examples from Europe and Africa.

The webinar concluded with WRAD co-Chair Professor Sandra Turner from Australia discussing the current priorities for WRAD 2026, including the role of regional champions.

One hundred and forty seven people registered for the webinar and seventy-five participants from 27 countries spanning Africa, Asia-Pacific, the Americas, Europe, and the Middle East attended live.

The event fulfilled its primary aim of bringing together radiotherapy professionals, educators, and students from around the world to mark World Radiotherapy Awareness Day and to celebrate the discipline's vital contribution to cancer care.
