Patient Advocates
We are actively seeking Patient/Survivor and Consumer Advocacy Groups and individuals from around the world to share their stories and join the WRAD platform, providing them with the opportunity to network with other groups, professionals, industry representatives, and policymakers. We know the strength of sharing personal radiotherapy stories in humanising our incredible technology, thus influencing public awareness and policy. In many parts of the world, there is also a pressing need to reduce the stigma surrounding a cancer diagnosis, and we hope that broader education on radiotherapy within communities will have a wider positive impact.

Specifically, their role will be to:
-
Co-design educational resources about radiotherapy, treatment options, and rights of people with cancer
-
Run campaigns to raise awareness about radiotherapy to destigmatise cancer and promote early detection and treatment
-
Engage in advocacy efforts aimed at influencing healthcare policy, funding, and access to care
-
Ensure that patients' voices and experiences are considered in policy

“At first, I was afraid of radiotherapy because I had heard that it was dangerous and painful. But when I started treatment, I did not feel the pain I was expecting. I have already seen a very big improvement, and the pain I had before has almost completely gone.”

Julie McCrossin
“Radiotherapy cured my stage four HPV-related throat cancer more than 13 years ago. I know firsthand how vital it can be, yet many people still know very little about it.”

Mohammed Musharaf Hossain
At first, I was very afraid of radiotherapy because I did not know what to expect. Once treatment began, I realized it was painless and felt much like having a CT scan. As I gradually started feeling better, my confidence returned. Radiotherapy gave me courage and renewed hope that my journey was not over.

Jamie Munro
“After being diagnosed with an aggressive cancer, radiotherapy became part of my treatment. I experienced minimal side effects, stayed active, and was able to be there for my daughter’s wedding. Today, I’m cancer-free.”

Jeff White
“Radiation therapy became deeply personal when I was diagnosed with cancer in 2023. I know firsthand the impact it can have — it helped cure my cancer.”

Elino Cabiades
“I underwent a full course of radiation therapy for Nasopharyngeal Cancer, and today I celebrate this incredible milestone—I have overcome cancer and am moving forward with a renewed life.”

Noor Bano
"Having received radiotherapy for breast cancer, and supporting my cousin through voice preserving radiotherapy for laryngeal cancer, I have seen how life-changing and rewarding this care is. Initiatives like WRAD are vital for raising global awareness, reducing stigma, and advocating for equitable access so no patient fights alone."

Andy Tudor
“I’m living proof that radiotherapy works. It gave me not only more life, but also the quality of life to enjoy it — and that is just as important.”
