World Radiotherapy Awareness Day (WRAD) was featured during the 14th Training Course delivered by Orfit Industries and the POCL Medical Solutions Training School Academy in Mumbai, India, on 26 July 2026. The programme brought together BARC DRP Medical Physics students for a day of expert teaching and hands-on clinical training designed to support the next generation of radiotherapy professionals.

Building practical radiotherapy skills
Students received training across several important areas of radiotherapy practice, including patient positioning and immobilisation, thermoplastic mask moulding, Vac-Lok preparation, stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) positioning solutions, CT simulation workflows and treatment setup techniques. Faculty members also shared practical clinical guidance to help improve setup accuracy, reproducibility, workflow efficiency and patient comfort.
Through live demonstrations, product training, interactive discussions and real-time question-and-answer sessions, participants developed their understanding of the complete radiotherapy workflow and gained insights they can apply in future clinical practice.

One Voice for Radiotherapy
A special part of the programme focused on the WRAD campaign and its theme, One Voice for Radiotherapy. Faculty members and students came together to raise awareness of the vital role radiotherapy plays in cancer care and to recognise the importance of well-educated, highly skilled radiotherapy teams in delivering safe, high-quality treatment.
Initiatives such as this help introduce future professionals to the wider global movement supporting greater understanding of radiotherapy, recognition of the people who deliver it and equitable access to treatment.
Special thanks to Orfit Industries, POCL Medical Solutions, Dr. Sudesh Deshpande, Prakash Umbarkar -WRAD Regional Champion – India, the entire POCL Medical Solutions team, and all BARC DRP Medical Physics students for their valuable support, contributions and enthusiastic participation in making this WRAD awareness activity a success.

Join us for World Radiotherapy Awareness Day on 7 September 2026 and add your voice to the global movement.
