Greece Celebrates WRAD 2026 with Messages of Hope and Unity
On 7 September 2026, the Radiation Oncology Department at Theagenio Cancer Hospital in Thessaloniki, Greece, joined the global World Radiotherapy Awareness Day (WRAD) celebrations, bringing patients and healthcare professionals together under the theme “One Voice for Radiotherapy.”
The department was decorated in WRAD colours, creating a welcoming space filled with information, education and messages of hope. Patients and staff explored educational materials, including “Myths & Facts” leaflets and information highlighting the important roles within the radiotherapy team.
A special feature of the celebration was the interactive “WRAD Tree,” where patients and staff added leaves carrying their names and personal messages of hope, strength and support.
Radiation oncologists, medical physicists, radiation therapists, nurses, residents and hospital leadership came together to celebrate the vital role of radiotherapy in cancer care.
What began as a small local initiative became a meaningful celebration of teamwork, patient connection and the people behind radiotherapy, demonstrating the spirit of One Voice for Radiotherapy.
